Update on Cover

Here is another draft for my front cover. I have used an image from the web as I am still waiting for a photo shoot but this is the kind of style I am going for. I have used blue writing and pink border as it is a contrast and looks funky.

Possible Design of Contents Page

I have created a few designs for my contents page this is just a rough draft whilst I am waiting to do my photoshoot. I have been inspired from the "Vibe" magazine contents page below, this is beacuse I like the letter in the background and the way the title is layed out.

Possible Layout

This is the kind of layout I am looking for on my final piece. I like the way that the title is large and the main picture overlaps part of the title as this shows the confidence you have that people will recognise your magazine.

I also like the colour scheme of blues greys whites etc and I think this I what I will be using on my final design.

I like the way that the image is black and white. This is easy on the eye and also reflects on the R&B style/genre.

This lesson I have made a start on my front cover i have taken some inspiration from vibe magazine and used come colours from that. 

I have decided to change my title of my masthead from "swagazine" to "ESSENCE" this is because I carried out a more specific survay on the exact taget audience and they chose this.

Blog Update

Today in lesson i have been working on a presentation to analyse the key features of a conventional, and an unconventional front cover.

Possible Fonts

I searched the web for some fonts that I thought best suited the genre of magazine. I then sent this sheet out as a survey to see which font my target audience preferred.

I discovered from my survey that the 3rd font down got the most amount of votes from my peers therefore this will be the font i will use on my final magazine.

 



Possible Names

Here are some of the possible names that I suggested to my classmates and I sent this page out as a survey to check which one my target audience preferred as the title of a R&B/ HIP HOP/ CHART magazine.

The 3 names that came out on top were, "THE SWAG MAG", "GROOVE MAG", and "CHILL OUT"

However when I handed it out I also gave an option of "SWAGAZINE" and the majority of people chose this one.

I chose the name because the word SWAG is commonly used with the people I wish to aim my magazine towards and SWAGAZINE is a play on words using this.


































Here I have started looking at different font styles. I have Picked the ones that would most suit a music magazine.

This is basically to just get an idea of what kind of fonts there are and what would look good for my magazine.

Next I will look at fonts from the Internet and send them out as a survey.

Update 1

I have uploaded my of the research of the magazine genre that i am thinking of making in my final outcome. I am going to start researching some school magazines now and see how they are in comparison, also this will allow me to be able to understand the differences between professional magazines and amateur ones.
